This page explains how health information on the Netra Integrative Health Clinic website is written, sourced, reviewed and corrected.
Who writes and reviews our pages
Our condition pages are written and clinically reviewed by Dr. Saikumar Gandapodi, DAOM, Dipl. OM, L.Ac., the founder and director of the clinic. The author and the clinical reviewer are the same person. Pages are not independently reviewed by an outside specialist.
How often pages are reviewed
All pages are reviewed on a daily basis. Each condition page shows its publication date.
Sources and evidence
Condition pages list their references, most of them indexed in PubMed, so that readers can check each claim against its source. We describe what a study did and found, and we say when evidence is limited, mixed or absent.
We keep different kinds of knowledge apart: the traditional explanations used in Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, laboratory findings, observational studies, clinical trials and our own clinic experience. A traditional explanation is presented as such and not as proof that a treatment works.
Complementary care
Acupuncture, Ayurvedic medicine and herbal medicine are offered here as complementary care. Our pages do not replace a medical evaluation, and we ask patients to continue the care their physician has recommended.
